Following his baptism, he pursued theological studies at Canadian Union College, now Burman University, and later at the Seventh-day Adventist Theological Seminary, where he completed his Master of Divinity in 1986. While serving in pastoral ministry, he also earned a PhD from Université Laval, writing on the development of Adventist denominations in nineteenth-century Canada. Since joining the Seminary faculty in 1994, Denis has served with distinction not only as professor of historical theology but also in major leadership roles, including MDiv director, department chair, associate dean and dean (2006–2013). Alongside his administrative and teaching work, he has made lasting scholarly contributions through numerous publications on Adventist history and theology, including a biography of George I. Butler and annotated editions of Ellen G. White’s books, among many other subjects. His career reflects intellectual rigor, faithful service and deep commitment to the church and University.
